History of Dabhoi

The beautiful city of Dabhoi was founded during the 6th century AD. It is known that the great king of Gujarat was the founder of this city. Siddhraj Jaisinh, the king of Gujarat used this city as his fortress. The architectural designs of the forts and palaces of the city as well as the design of the city gate shows that this city was built during the Rudra Mahalaya period. Dabhoi was ruled by Muslim rulers during 1300 AD. The well known battle of Dabhoi was fought here during 1731. The city is surrounded by four gates and you can visit this city through any of the gates. Dabhoi is also famous for being the religious centre for Jains since it consists of 6 temples belonging to the Jains.

The Gate

Another major attraction of this city is the gates. Hira Bhagol, the most amazingly decorated curved gate was named after Hiradhar who designed this gate. This gate is also known as the Vadodara Gate since you can visit Dabhoi from Vadodara using this gate
